Cost Model Upgrade

Upgrading a series of Microsoft Excel cost models to use self-generating report scenarios.
In this complex cost model, problems had been experienced by users making changes to formulae. The main issue was that when any refinements were made to the cost model structure, the users had to remember to make the same changes to formulae in each of the report scenario sheets where that calculation applied. Failing to do so meant the reports were generated on different basis to the new model.
By using user-maintainable control tables within Excel, and VBA to drive the process, the model has been successfully upgraded so that the scenario sheets can now be automatically re-generated each time the model is changed at the click of a button. It also means that the original file can be saved without the scenario sheets, making it more compact for emailing across the world.
